Increasing Access to Homeownership

Increasing Access to Homeownership

In 2021, we announced a $1 million grant to a housing initiative led by Northside Institutions Neighborhood Alliance (NINA) to make homeownership more accessible in Hartford’s Asylum Hill Neighborhood. In combination with other sources, this bridge funding will help to reduce blight and enable the renovation of approximately 24 homes, which equates to $10 million in revitalization over the next five years.
Providing Equitable Access to Higher Education

Providing Equitable Access to Higher Education

In 2021, we committed $1 million to provide scholarships to 50 UConn Hartford students who are residents of the City of Hartford. The funding will cover the gap between a student’s existing financial aid package and their remaining tuition amount, allowing them to attend UConn Hartford tuition-free for four years.
“We recognize that equitable access to a quality education can be a critical component to future success and look forward to mentoring The Hartford Scholars as they chart a course to accomplish their goals.”

Improving Access to Essential Resources

Improving Access to Essential Resources

In 2020, we committed $750,000 over three years to help United Way improve the online presence and accessibility of the 211 network. This site offers a comprehensive source of locally curated social services information available across the country. This will better enable 211 users to quickly find and access the information and services they need, while improving the overall user experience, increasing website traffic and creating a more consistent, connected network across the U.S.
